A Place to Belong

Church Bulletin

Sunday: 29th March 2026

Welcome to Hillside Church. We are so glad you chose to join us today. In our Sunday service, you will encounter people who have experienced great Joy, loss or brokenness in their lives. Romans 12:15 puts it best, "Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep". The Struggle is Real, but God is Real.

We believe the best way to experience God on Sunday is to connect organically. We do this through heartfelt worship, praying for needs, sharing the truth of God's Word, and sharing in each others lives through connection. We invite you to be a part of the Hillside family!

TODAY’S SERVICE

Sermon Title:

Palm Sunday: What does it mean?

On Palm Sunday, desperate crowds waved palm branches and shouted “Hosanna—save us now!” as Jesus rode into Jerusalem, seeing Him as the political Messiah who would overthrow Roman oppression and make Israel great again. Yet these same people, long oppressed because of their own rebellion against God, weren’t seeking the true Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world; they wanted a king who would serve their earthly ambitions and deliver temporal freedom. Jesus deliberately entered the city on the exact day Jewish families selected their Passover lambs, offering Himself as the ultimate, personal Sacrifice that would provide eternal spiritual liberation instead of temporary national victory. While the religious leaders paraded their outward piety and profited from sin in the temple, Jesus exposed their hypocrisy, cursing a fruitless fig tree and cleansing His Father’s house. The sobering question Palm Sunday still asks today is whether we are praising a Jesus who meets our immediate wants, or truly worshiping the Lamb who offers lasting freedom no matter the earthly outcome.
