A Place to Belong
Church Bulletin
Sunday: 5th April 2026
Welcome to Hillside Church. We are so glad you chose to join us today. In our Sunday service, you will encounter people who have experienced great Joy, loss or brokenness in their lives. Romans 12:15 puts it best, "Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep". The Struggle is Real, but God is Real.
We believe the best way to experience God on Sunday is to connect organically. We do this through heartfelt worship, praying for needs, sharing the truth of God's Word, and sharing in each others lives through connection. We invite you to be a part of the Hillside family!

TODAY’S SERVICE
Sermon Title:
No Happenstance
Pastor Rob:
What looked like a tragic accident on a dark Friday—Jesus hanging on the cross, abandoned and mocked—was actually the climax of God’s eternal plan, written into Scripture long before it happened. From Genesis 3:15 onward, the Old Testament overflows with hundreds of specific prophecies pointing to the Messiah’s suffering and redemption, proving the cross was never random or happenstance. At the heart of this divine blueprint stands Psalm 22, penned by King David nearly 1,000 years before crucifixion existed, vividly describing the mocking, the piercing of hands and feet, the gambling for clothes, and even the agonizing cry “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”—words Jesus Himself would utter from the cross (Matthew 27:46). These precise details, fulfilled to the letter, reveal a sovereign God who didn’t scramble for a solution when humanity fell, but had the rescue mission planned from the foundation of the world. If you’re facing circumstances that feel random or hopeless today, remember the cross: what appeared to be defeat was God’s greatest act of love and purpose—proof that He is still orchestrating history for our good, turning apparent endings into eternal beginnings.

Pastor Darrell:
You are not an accident.
God Himself invites you to stop, be still, and discover that He is the sovereign reason for your existence.
He has already written a purposeful plan for your life—plans for good, not disaster, just as He did for young Jeremiah and the apostle Paul.
Even now, Jesus Christ stands as the bridge that closes the gap between you and the Father, so you can live in intimate relationship with the God who loves you exactly as He loves His own Son.
This Easter, step into the truth that you are deeply known, intentionally designed, and eternally cherished—no happenstance, only divine purpose.
